Why Lisa Chose This Bottle
We’re kicking off our 12 days of Gifting & Getting wines for your Christmas list with a favorite of Jeff’s, so stop by and see him today and he’ll fill you in on why Roty has been his favorite wine for decades, as you taste one of the best of Burgundy!
Holiday parties starting to fill your calendar this week? We’re popping the top on this beautiful salmon colored rose in honor of Jules, our marketing guru! It’s a great affordable bubbly to bring along for fun, so grab one for the party and one for when you get back home! Strawberries and high acidity in this party-goer!
I’ve waited 2 years for the opportunity to bring this wine back into our store! I love its deeply concentrated plummy flavors! And I was able to snag only ONE case of this luscious beauty - so once it's gone - it’s gone! The grapes are harvested from the legendary Big Break Vineyards in California, a plot that was first planted by Portuguese and Italian immigrants in the 1800’s. The rootstock is thick and berries are sparse, making it prime for complexity and depth of flavor.
In case you didn’t know, my favorite winemaker is Kirk Venge. Last Christmas I gave myself the gift of Venge’s Family Reserve Cab. This year, it’s the Jax Cab Franc. Cab Franc is always a hit or miss, especially in Virginia where we may pick it too early due to our humidity. But when it’s fully ripe, it’s spectacular and Kirk Venge’s Jax line is a good example of when all the elements of terroir line up to produce a luscious, deeply garnet purple wine full of blue and black fruits! My mouth is watering
A new addition to our wines from Uruguay! I’ve always loved a good Tannat, deep and tannic. This one is a blend of Tannat and Viognier which softens the wine. Tannins are present and persistent but pleasantly smooth. Flavors of vanilla and coconut from the oak barrels will fill your mouth with curiosity, This is the wine to take with you to a blind tasting with friends during holiday gatherings! It drinks like a Napa Cab, they will never guess it’s not! Hands-down, you’ll win!
If you weren’t lucky enough to snag a ticket for tonight’s Champagne Tasting, come by for a sneak sip of my favorite champagne today until we close the doors at 5:00! I’m popping the cork on “Dis Vin Secret. What’s the secret? It’s made mostly from the minor blending grape of Pinot Meunier, with small amounts of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to add weight and structure. Celebrate the season with a really nice Champagne!
Elevate the Festival of Lights with a Kosher wine. Yes, Kosher wine CAN BE delicious! Come taste for yourself! With a family winemaking history of nine generations, this delight is a unique field blend of 12 different grape varieties that have been co-fermented together creating flavors reminiscent of a decadent espresso with a shot of raspberry. It’s certified OU, Kosher, Mevushal!Â
Steve doesn’t know how people keep missing this wine! It’s one of his favorites, rustic in style and goes so well with grilled meats and sausages!! Layers of smoke, tar and spice surround the clusters of appassimento grapes during the winemaking process. Stop in and talk to him about our Meatcrafters sausage collections as he’s our food guy!
The wines from Gimblett Gravels in New Zealand are regal and prime examples of this stand-out region’s terroir. Freshly tilled earth, cedar, oak, violet-like florals, mulberries and plums. It’s really seductive with a long impressive finish that builds as the tannins compose in the glass. I love it for its ability to transport me to the rich forest lands of New Zealand where I might meet a hobbitÂ
A solid intro to the world of Chablis, France’s elite Burgundian Chardonnays, at an affordable price point. Made from grapes grown in Kimmeridgian soils bearing 40+ year old vines. If you think you don’t like Chardonnay because you’ve only ever tried the big, buttery oak bombs of a California Chardonnay, you need to give Chablis a taste. This is what Chardonnay is without manipulation of the winemaking process. No oak, just time to develop the natural flavors of the grape. Start here and proceed your palate to the Premier and Grand Cru Chablis, you’ll have a truly satisfying experience.Â
Ahhhh. Brunello. This is Steve’s pick and I concur! It’s a knockout Italian wine every red wine lover must experience! It’s the Queen to the King, Barolo. From Montalcino in Tuscany, it’s the best of the brunellos. Come taste this bold, yet delicately seductive wine today in our store!
Time’s running out and take-out is the only option for dinner tonight! Savor some Sake with your sushi! Easy to sip while alternating finger food and gift wrapping! This one is full of ripe aromas kiwi and papaya,it’s dry and lively with a full-bodied finish.Â
